Dolls To Dress Yourself

I'm offering a range of dolls that you can dress yourself.  All my dolls are Ooak (one of a kind) No molds are ever used.  Each doll is full of character.

They have been painted and wigged.  The ladies have bloomers which have not been sewn on & are re-movable making it easier to make their shoes.

Please see tips and hints below.

Or you could pick a undressed  doll for me to dress for you.  Please email me with your request & I can give you a quote for a dressed doll.

If you wish to buy more than one item from me please email so I can combine your postage.

Tips

If you are new to doll making or dressing 12th scale dolls.  It's a would be good idea to treat yourself to a good book.  Making miniature dolls with polymer clay by Sue Heaser is one I can highly recommend.  It contains lots of basic pattern to dress period dolls in 12th scale.

Join a good miniature  group.   CDHM & AIM are both  brilliant ones.  There are loads of tutorials for different miniatures on CDHM & both groups are very friendly with lots of folks willing to help you.

Use tracing paper/grease proof paper to make up your patterns.  Hold them up to your dolls to make sure length and width of pattern will fit your doll.   This will cut down on mistakes and wastage of fabric.

Fray stop glue is a fantastic product for all those tiny places that you can't get the sewing needle into.

Ebay is a good place to find 12th scale fabric if like me you don't have any fabric shops for miles :( My favourite supplier of 12th fabrics is Sandra ebay ID  pendrellm

Hints

If you wish to make fimo shoes for your dolls wrap the legs in kitchen roll before you start sculpting because the dye will come off some of the darker shades on to the dolls legs.  My dolls can be re baked at 130C  but please leave the head off while you do so as some of the wigging material I use will singe in the oven.

Fine iron on interfacing is very useful to use when making collars,  hats etc.

I find you do get a neater finish when using a sewing machine,  but a lot of work needs to be done by hand as it's so tiny.

A lot of information and help can be found on the internet by googling.  Have fun.
